La Boîte à Grenier

An ode to my new favourite shop

This was fate. Me moving here; and you being so close to my new home.

I’ve been looking for you all my life even if I didn’t know you existed. And how happy I was when I found out yesterday that there’s two of you! The three of us, we are a match made in heaven!

Everybody who knows me knows how much I love boot fairs. And a good bargain. Now imagine there’s a giant indoor boot fair open seven days a week. And biiiiiig. And no sellers you have to deal with – if you want to negotiate a price, you can; but it’s too much of a hassle for low priced items. Take it or leave it. A shop stuffed full of interesting things that lots of random people don’t want and need anymore. Like a charity shop but better quality items. AND it’s in a new country so all the stuff looks different!

And imagine this shop just happens to be in the town where you do your regular shopping anyway – right next to Lidl and Hyper U! What are the odds …. what can I say – the universe loves me…

Of course I go there at least once a week. I found so many lovely and useful things already but this morning I put some of them together to show them to you. I know my closest friends and my family will appreciate this post. Especially my family as we are Schwabenleutle/Swabians – the most thrifty (and apparently most close-fisted) of Germans.

A pickle jar with wooden tongs and a fully functioning coffee mill for 5EUR each
THREE Le Creuset pots with lids for 2EUR!! All of the precious items on this table totalled under 28EUR.
… and here the pièce de résistance … an unused Oeil-de-boeuf – a hexagonal, double-glazed window. I saw it and I knew it will be perfect for the new, improved house. For the window, I had a shop assistant negotiate with the owner for me and I got for a measly 105EUR!

I will save so much money in this shop! I will spend so much money in this shop! 😂
